About Nina Leth
I have been working with art and design for such a long time - about time I show it to the world.
My artwork are based on different work fields like digital with pixels and vectors. And in real life, with watercolors, finger painting, potato print and what you else can think of. I simply can’t stick to one single way of expressing art. And now it has become my brand - multi making artist.
Recently I have gone back to ceramics and combine that with woodturning. I was addicted to that as a kid and during my first years living alone. Now I make big sculptures with 10 kg clay and have started to sell them. And I even bought a kiln now. It is so nice being able to fire the ceramics myself and not having to drive it around.
But that eventually lead to the idea of making my own surface pattern shop, since I can fit into so many styles in both apparel for kids, women and men, home decor, stationery and greeting cards. The patterns are primarily vectors made in Adobe Illustrator. That is my favorite program, since it does not lose quality when scaling and it is so easy to recolor.
If you have been browsing my designs, you might have had the thought, that it must have been several artists doing them? I have heard that before! I did think of making some aliases for my different approaches, but I’d rather brag about it. I did it all, i’m the only one to blame and to take the credit.
I have had a very funny relationship with my art during the last 20 years. We have been struggling a lot, especially in the first years - like couples do. Hell - you could see me in the street drive over my paintings! Then I moved on to cutting in the paintings, using the bits and pieces in other paintings. The holes was a glimpse into something else. I really liked them holes. I am also known for the chewing gum portrait I did for Frederiksborgs slots censored portrait exhibition. Yes, it took a lot of chewing, my luck I have 3 kids to help out. I even got a huge box with free chewing gum. The company felt that was a awesome thing to tell the world - their sponsorship to this weird artist.
Then I grew up and fell in love with pattern making. So I now have a library of 5000 designs, mostly for sale on pod sites like Spoonflower and Society6. Patternbank and Minted is also on my supply list and I feel very honored to be able to make so many different designs. I have recently got accepted to Minted, that took a while, but is worth it. They sell a heron art print (exclusive), gift wrap and a puzzle with my designs.
Maybe it will lead into something more? In fact a sticker company reached out, so maybe someday you can buy my stickers?
My goal is to have my patterns on tapestry, lots of dresses and a fabric collection would be great too.
For now - I leave you with my patterns - do ask if you have any questions.
Until next time, have a splendid day.
